We are an independent family funeral director on Wyle Cop, in the heart of Shrewsbury. The same family has done this work here since 1952.
Hartwell & Rest opened its doors in 1952. Three generations of the same family have cared for Shropshire families since then, from the same premises on Wyle Cop.
We stayed independent on purpose. It means we answer to the families we serve, and to no one else. It means we can take our time, keep our prices plain, and do the work the way we believe it should be done.
We are not a large company. You will meet the same faces from the first call to the last goodbye, and we think that matters when times are hard.

Funeral director, third generationMargaret is the third of her family to do this work. She leads the funerals we arrange and often meets families first.

Funeral directorDavid guides families through each arrangement with patience and care, and looks after every detail on the day.

Arrangements and adminSarah looks after the arrangements and the paperwork, so that families have fewer things to think about.
